I love the anticipation.
We bought an amazing digital SLR camera for the trip and I'm so excited about the focal length options.
After some time in the air we landed in Barcelona. Without a hotel booked we jumped into a cab and told him to drop us off at the main area by the promenade. After poking our head into a couple hotels we found a comfortable one along this strip and then set off to walk around.
The promenade had all of these wonderful little vendors of pet stores out on the strip. It was delightful.
Then we stopped in for a little sandwich and beer.
We walked off of the beaten path on our way down to the water and quickly found ourselves walking through prostitutes and drug dealers it was shocking. I kept chanting... keep your head down, dont make eye contact, meanwhile Doug was walking around without a care in the world staring at all of the 'sights'. It was only a block off of the boardwalk and we were quickly back onto the main road.
After walking to the water we went and explored the courtyards.
Had a more substantial dinner out in the open air and people watched.
And ended the evening with some coffee.
